WILLIAM JOHN DOHERTY MARRIED CATHERINE JOHNSTON IN ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, BELFAST, IRELAND ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 1884. THEY HAD 13 CHILDREN: RUTH, GEORGE, KATHLEEN(KATE), WILLIAM JOHN, JAMES HENRY, ELIZA(LIZZIE), THERESA(TESSA), JENNY(MABEL), MARGARET, JOHNSTON GILL, MARY ANN(MARION), ROBERT THOMAS AND ISABELLA(BELLE). The names were copied from the family Bible by Minnie Doherty, wife of George, and the dates of birth are shown in the Bible.
Be watching the blog for the Necrology of William and Catherine, their children, and subsequent generations. The initial sources for this information were the 1975, 1985 and 1989 Doherty family history books. The list is compiled in ancestral, rather than chronological sequence. However, at the 2009 reunion in Hanna, Noel Doherty, second youngest son of Robert and Ella Doherty, will present the list in chronological sequence. The ancestral list following was prepared by Barrie (BJ) Hughes, youngest son of James and Marion (Doherty) Hughes.

LESS than six months!!
